Spawned in 2023 from the sticky floors and strobe-split shadows of East London, Ziber (@ziber.klub) is a queer club night with a postmodern spirit. It’s been described as “balmy sweat scent and silhouettes in neon lights, in between a leather fetish bar, a derelict club, a candy shop and a house party.” Born as a reaction to the sanitized anonymity of mega-clubs, Ziber’s close-knit community aspires to revive the hedonism of the heydays of European decadence: grotesque, sensual and gloriously nonsensical. The night’s sound footprint also traces a line connecting years of decadence between genres like EBM, Italo, Wave, Industrial, Dark Disco, Techno and the liminal noise that writhes between.
Ziber’s book series aims to capture the pulse of the current underground scene—an unholy fusion of once-separate subcultures now colliding into a postmodern Frankenstein. It’s a snapshot of our chaotic now, where boundaries blur and tribes bleed into one another: punks, goths, disco queens, boot boys, dolls, softcore, hardcore, vanilla, ravers, drags, bears, new romantics, stoners, industrial kids and the list goes on.
This publication is built as a visual and textual fever dream through photos, stories, and scraps from the floor. It’s a collective project made by our community, for our community. We’re not sure where we’re going, but the present is ours. This is us documenting it - and the people who make it real.
