In issue 5 of TON we are celebrating the people who make their own kind of music. We have travelled far and wide in search of those who march to the beat of their own drum …
From our fabulously rowdy movers and shakers born of the fine streets of London, to the windswept sands of Fuerteventura, where artist and architect Carlos gives us a tour of his ever-evolving sculpture garden … And across the Atlantic to New York City where we meet three super cool gals making a right racket with their newly opened store Surrender Dorothy … Then down the way in the Beaver state we take a tour of Shaniko, Oregon’s oldest living ghost town, and home to The Raven’s Nest, where you can pick up anything from a cowboy hat to a VHS tape … And back in TON’s home of London were our very own editor Billie Muraben gasses with style icon Nicole Farhi, who has been dancing to her own tune ever since walking into a foundry and discovering her love of sculpture. A personal highlight for Editor-in-Chief Jermaine Gallacher was meeting cover star, artist Richard Dial, in his studio in Bessemer, Alabama. 'What I love so much about Richard’s work is how it is a pure, true embodiment and extension of himself—and, most importantly, it has heart.'
